From 21 to 30 November 2025, the Peloponnese International Documentary Festival will unfold across Kalamata and 14 other towns in the Peloponnese — Filiatra, Sparta, Argos, Gythio, Monemvasia, Tripoli, Dimitsana, Nafplio, Xylokastro, Leonidio, Stymphalia, Akrata, Patras and Amaliada.
Organised by the Creative Documentary Center of Kalamata, the festival aims to draw Greek audiences deeper into the world of documentary cinema, exploring its many expressive forms. Through screenings, masterclasses, retrospectives, seminars and educational programmes, it encourages active engagement — inviting viewers themselves to contribute to evaluation processes and to develop a more nuanced understanding of how storytellers communicate their visions.
This edition continues the festival’s tradition of combining national and international voices, emphasising European documentary work, and rewarding excellence both programmatically and through awards. Past editions have drawn audiences in the range of twelve to thirteen thousand.
In addition, this year the festival is supported by its ongoing International Film Camp, which will take place from 7 to 17 July 2025 in the Taygetos mountains. The camp fosters collaboration among film students from around the world, encouraging the production of short documentaries and the exchange of knowledge across cultural boundaries.
