A kaleidoscope of generations and colors from Tsakonia, with the scent of a woman!
The tzoumpelou – the proud Tsakonian woman in her traditional attire, the tzoumpes – takes the lead in this year’s exploration of Tsakonian heritage and becomes the symbol of inspiration for Melitzazz 2025, the beloved Leonidio festival that returns stronger than ever for its 13th edition, from July 3 to 6, 2025.
Honoring the feminine figure in Tsakonian tradition, we trace her presence through time and highlight her vital role in the transmission of culture and the preservation of Tsakonian identity. Wearing her iconic red woolen jacket (tzoumpes), the tzoumpelou carries tradition from generation to generation – keeping it alive while inspiring new ways to celebrate and reimagine cultural heritage.
New Collaborations:
Ethnofest – Athens Ethnographic Film Festival: Thematic screenings of ethnographic films (e.g. Zagros, Ama San, and more).
